Celebrating America’s Artistic Legacy

Letter from the publishers

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, I am reminded that although ours is a relatively young nation, it has produced a remarkable legacy of artists whose work has helped define our culture, history and national identity.

Six times each year, Sarah Gianelli and our dedicated team write about the extraordinary achievements of historic American artists. In this issue, we explore how America’s museums have approached this significant milestone in our nation’s history and how master painters have shaped our nation’s artistic heritage (as well as why today’s collectors continue to have such a strong appetite for their works). Their paintings not only reflect the times in which they were created but also continue to inspire new generations of art lovers and collectors.

This is also our highly anticipated landscape issue, beginning on Page 48. Landscape painting remains a cornerstone of many collections. These works transcend time and place, offering both a nostalgic glimpse into the past and a familiar view of landscapes that continue to resonate today. Through their brushes, artists have shared their passion for the American landscape, preserving scenes that might otherwise be lost to history. Almost all of the works featured in this section are available for acquisition, providing collectors with an opportunity to own a meaningful piece of America’s artistic legacy.

Among the other highlights in this issue is our feature on the Wyeth family (Page 68), examining one of America’s most celebrated artistic families and the enduring influence of generational creativity. We also report on our recent visit to New York City, including The American Art Fair and Initiatives in Art and Culture’s American Art Conference.

History matters, and for fortunate collectors, bringing a piece of that history into their homes is both a privilege and a lasting connection to America’s artistic heritage.

Best Regards,
