We the People: America at 250
January 23
To honor the nation’s 250th birthday, Christie’s will be presenting a cross-category masterpiece auction during its January Americana Week in New York, which will encompass the spirit of American history and culture. From important historical documents and books to singular works of art and craftsmanship in a variety of media, We the People: America at 250 will feature significant pieces that illuminate the multifaceted story of the United States. The sale is led by Rufus King’s printed and edited draft of the Committee of Style Draft of the Constitution, which will be joined by other major highlights of fine and decorative arts to be announced soon. The live sale begins at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. 

An online sale will run from January 13 to 27, featuring the same mix of documents, works of art and decorative arts but at more approachable price ranges.

Old West & Native American Art Show & Auction
January 24
The Old West Events Show and Auction’s re-branded event, Old West and Native American Art Show and Auction, will offer approximately 500 lots of fine collector quality and historically significant items this January.

Among historic American paintings in the upcoming sale are William Gollings’ oil on canvas, Pony Express Rider, which is expected to fetch between $10,000 to $15,000. Additionally, Fernand Lungren’s oil on canvas In the Mountains has a presale estimate of $8,000 to $12,000. Also rounding out the sale will be two-dimensional works by such artists as Nicholas Firfires, Armin Hansen and A.D.M. Cooper, as well as sculpture by Harry Jackson and Paul Wegner.
