A cornerstone of New York’s autumn arts calendar, Salon Art + Design returns to the Park Avenue Armory for its 14th edition, presenting patrons with an elegant array of top quality artwork and dynamic programming.

The fair is known for its robust curatorial approach, which fosters meaningful dialogue across wide-ranging facets of modern and historic art. A vibrant lineup of first-time participants and returning galleries will be a part of the 2025 event—which features a range of rare historic works to cutting-edge contemporary creations, including fine art, furniture, studio glass, ceramics, Japanese art, jewelry and more.

“We want visitors to explore and engage with design and art in new ways that spark curiosity, conversation and deeper appreciation, with each space telling a unique story that expands the visitor’s appreciation of what art with design can  be,” says executive director Nicky Dessources, who is now in her second year running Salon.

Galleries participating in the upcoming fair include Helicline Fine Art, David Gill Gallery, Bernard Goldberg Fine Arts, Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Jacqueline Sullivan Gallery, Todd Merrill Studio, Mia Karlova Galerie, Galerie Gmurzynska and many more.

Helicline Fine Art will be bringing an exceptional selection of about two dozen 20th-century works by such prominent artists as Charles Burchfield, Thomas Hart Benton, Ludwin Bemelmans, Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove, George Grosz and more. Among the highlights is an oil by Daniel Ralph Celantano, Study for Long Beach, depicting a family clad in beach attire getting out of a car. “Daniel Celentano, at the age of 12, was Thomas Hart Benton’s first and youngest student. He enjoyed an active career exhibiting at major museums as an accomplished American scene painter during the WPA and WWII era,” says Keith Sherman, owner of Helicline Fine Art. “This painting is a study for the fully executed work our gallery sold some years ago. Long Beach is a small oceanfront town on Long Island. Celentano often focused on the Italian neighborhood of East Harlem in New York City where he was born and raised as the subject matter of his drawings, paintings and murals.”

Sherman adds that the centerpiece of Helicline Fine Art’s booth will be a sculpture and two paintings from their 1,000-piece collection of art and objects from the 1939 World’s Fair.

Since 2016, Salon has partnered with the non-profit Dia Art Foundation, which supports, advances and preserves the vision of artists. On the fair’s opening night, Dia Art Foundation will kick off the evening with an exclusive benefit preview, with proceeds going toward Dia and their exhibition program.

Salon Art + Design will run from November 6 to 10. Check the fair’s official website for updates on special programming and events. —
