The Prints, Multiples, and Works on Paper sale, hosted by Santa Fe Art Auction, will offer close to 400 lots of prints, drawings, paintings and collages by renowned artists from around the world. The two-day sale features works by such prominent artists as R. C. Gorman, Gene Kloss, Emil Bisttram, Fernand Leger, Andrew Dasburg, Robert Kelly, Luis Ribak, Will Barnet, Howard Cook, Barbara Latham, Jerry Ingram, Janet Lippincott and Gustave Baumann.

A “wonderful and intimate” sketch by Bisttram titled Near the Ranchos Church is one of the many pieces collectors should keep on their radar. The graphite drawing, which depicts Ranchos de Taos Church in New Mexico, has a presale estimate of $1,500 to $2,500. “Born in Hungary, Bisttram initially immigrated to New York and settled in Taos in 1932,” says Gillan Blitch, president of Santa Fe Art Auction. “He developed a Taos gallery and the Taos School of Art, as well as the New Mexico Transcendental Artists Group and the Taos Art Association. Bisttram is known for his spiritual, modernist approach to painting and is a key figure in the Southwest modernist movement.”

In addition, an illustrative drypoint by Martin Lewis, Chance Meeting, circa 1940, is expected to fetch between $5,000 and $7,000; and a 1936 gouache on paper by French artist Fernand Leger has a presale estimate of $15,000 to $20,000.
