Heritage Auctions has announced that Liz Goodridge, a specialist in 19th- and early-20th-century American art, recently joined the auction house as its West Coast-based vice president and director of American art. Goodridge builds on 15 years of experience in both the primary and secondary American art markets and will work closely with Heritage’s New York-based senior vice president of American art, Aviva Lehmann, as well as the rest of the fine art team.
The National Gallery of Art recently hired Ryan Merkel as the museum’s new principal gifts officer. In this role, Merkel will work with the chief development officer and members of the development team to identify and cultivate major philanthropic gifts from individuals in the private sector in support of the nation’s preeminent art museum. Merkel will also work to expand the National Gallery’s donor base to support its renowned exhibitions, programming and strategic initiatives.
In addition, Andaleeb Badiee Banta joins the National Gallery of Art as the new Andrew W. Mellon Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings. Banta will lead the department of prints and drawings, which is responsible for the care, study, display and expansion of the National Gallery’s collection of some 120,000 works on paper.—
