DuMouchelles auction house, on September 12 and 13, will feature a diverse array of museum-quality fine art, luxury items and collectible decorative objects from the 18th to early-20th centuries.
The sale features pieces from the Italian Baroque period, historic French sculpture, decorative art and furniture, and 19th-century examples of Chinese art.

Among the historic American art offerings are a vibrant lithograph on wove paper by Jasper Johns, and three multimedia pieces by the recently deceased Frank Stella, an artist credited with closing the door on abstract expressionism and ringing in an era of visual minimalism. These pieces, and others, came from The Rattlesnake Club, a Detroit culinary institution known for its creative cuisine, exceptional service and picturesque views, as well as its significant role in reviving Detroit’s dining scene until its closure in June 2024.
Other important American works in DuMouchelle’s September auctions include a Tiffany art glass window from Orion Township, Michigan’s Canterbury Village Chapel; an oil triptych by Pat Steir; Two Bears, a graceful bronze by Marshall Fredericks (1908-1998); a laser-cut steel nude by Tom Wesselmann; a watercolor by 100-year-old artist Richard Mayhew; and an etching by Wayne Thiebaud.
