The 2022 Baltimore Art, Antique & Jewelry Show makes a strong comeback after a two-year hiatus

After two years of postponed events at the Baltimore Convention Center, the Baltimore Art, Antique & Jewelry Show made a triumphant return with significant sales over the weekend of October 20 to 23.

The Baltimore Show, nearing its 40th edition, is a favorite among collectors for its wide variety of quality items from every genre including furniture, jewelry, porcelain and tapestries to antiquities, clocks, ceramics, silver, fine art and more.

Attendees of the 2022 Baltimore Show had ample opportunities for educational one-on-one conversations with fine art afficionados.

“Noticeably at the show, there was a large transactional trend with antique and estate jewelry and antique silver,” says Kelsi Monteith, executive director of communications for the event’s producer, the Palm Beach Show Group. “The Baltimore Show has always been well known as a silver show, so these two categories performed very well. The Baltimore Show features something for everyone ranging anywhere from $100 to $100,000—the dealers with more affordable collectors’ items did very well by turning over sales continuously throughout the weekend.”

More than 130 exhibitors, some longtime participants and others new to the show, came together for the event which drew 20,000 attendees over the course of the weekend.

The Booth Talk Series featured eight presentations by exhibitors during which experts in their respective fields gave intimate talks and led discussions on a wide variety of art and collecting-related topics.

Connecticut exhibitor, Patricia Funt Antiques, has participated in the Baltimore Show for over 10 years and expressed gratitude for the show’s return. “It was a pleasure to be back at the Baltimore Show after our long pandemic break,” she says. “The show looked as good as ever and the people who came clearly were happy to see the show return. The show has always attracted customers who are well educated in antiques and art which makes selling that much easier and pleasant.”

When asked about his show experience, David Brooker of David Brooker Fine Art says, “It was great to see so many old clients as well was meet and sell to new ones, with my biggest sale of a five figure included a fox hunting scene by Henry Calvert to a new client met at the show.”

“We had a good show, positive signs that people are coming out to shop again; we saw many familiar faces from years past who were thrilled that the Baltimore Show was back again,” share Jeff Cohen and Craig Evan Small. “The quality of dealers was very good and we received many compliments from shoppers. I think next year we will take a bigger booth to bring a bit more of objects to meet the demand.”

Whether you’re looking for high-end antiques, jewelry, decorative arts or fine art, the Baltimore Show offers something for every kind of collector and budget.

Carole Pinto of Carole Pinto Fine Arts was also excited to be back in Baltimore and have the opportunity to communicate with art lovers over a mutual passion for beauty.

The Baltimore Show, which features special programming relating to commerce, education and entertainment, welcomed back the informative Booth Talk Series which included eight presentations by exhibitors during which experts in their respective fields gave intimate talks and held discussions with patrons covering a wide range of compelling subject matter.

Held in a casual atmosphere, these discussions give exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their offerings while educating the interested patrons which deepens their connection with the work and, hopefully, translates into more sales and new clients.

Historic fine art was in abundant supply at the 2022 Baltimore Show, which made  a strong comeback after a two-year hiatus.

The Baltimore Show is not only a great event for serious collectors and the novice antique-seeker, but it is also undeniably one of the most important events for dealer-to-dealer transactions, where inventory is purchased for upcoming shows and fourth quarter selling.

Scott Diament, president and chief executive officer of the Palm Beach Show Group, remarks, “Despite the difficulties of Covid-19 faced by participating exhibitors, consumers and our team, we are reassured that with perseverance, the Baltimore Show…is here to stay.”
