» Aviva Lehmann has been promoted to Heritage Auctions’ senior vice president based in New York City, where she will continue to oversee the American art category she has helped turn into an auction-world juggernaut.
» This March, Ramey Mize began her role as the Portland Museum of Art’s new assistant curator of American art. Mize will support the museum’s Art for All mission, which aims provide a strong artistic vision that drives conversation, creativity, cultural vitality and economic impact.
» The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) has named Christopher Bedford its new Helen and Charles Schwab Director. Bedford will begin his leadership of SFMOMA in June, coming from his current position as Dorothy Wagner Wallis Director at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
» The Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida has appointed Jade Powers as curator of contemporary art following a nation-wide search. Powers comes to the Harn Museum from the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri, where she served as assistant curator, curating more than 10 permanent collection and special exhibitions.
» Brett Abbott is the next director and CEO of the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, Connecticut. Abbott was formerly director of collections and exhibitions at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. —
